The month of December is the most popular month for engagements, far surpassing other romantic months such as February. While only about 7% of couples get married in the holiday month, 19% of couples get engaged in December! That’s one happy holiday!

Q: We are having an elegant evening wedding and would like to ask that guests not bring their children to the reception. How can we politely convey this without hurting any feelings?

A: While adult-only receptions aren’t a new trend, it can still be difficult to politely ask your guests to leave the little loved ones at home. The proper etiquette is to simply not specify the children’s names on the inner envelope of the invitation. However, some feel that the message is not clear enough and then some people skip the inner envelopes altogether. Then what? Another great way to achieve this is to use the phrase, ‘Number of adults attending’ on the rsvp card. This way, you do not give them an option to rsvp for children and it is a much more subtle way than stating ‘Adults Only’ on your wedding invitation.
